hope you picked a good distribution, sometimes the wrong choice of distro might frustrate you and give a bad impression of GNU/Linux
for general purpose desktop usage I'd never use anything other than Mandirva, Ubunto, Suse

Now i use Redhat Enterprise 4 for administration & network utilites , nearly i will used Suse 9.3 wich i support it as a user frindely distrbution ..
